People on Pinterest love Oreos
On Pinterest I get about one re-pin for every two to three pins I make this was until I re-pinned two pictures of Oreos. The picture on the left I posted six days ago and it’s still getting shared across the Pinterest community, today it has thirteen re-pins and three likes which is loads more interaction than I usually get on Pinterest.
So I decided to re-pin a different picture of Oreos to see if this was going to have the same effect. I was surprised to see within one day my re-pin pictured on the right was re-pinned twenty-one times and liked six times. I knew that Pinterest community liked baking and crafts but what’s with Oreos, why are they so popular?
How to use Google to find your Google+ mentions
I found this tool out by experimenting with Google search as I knew that if you type in + then a letter it comes up with different businesses that are on Google+. So I tried to see if my name would appear in the suggestions when I was typing into Google. It didn’t work but I found something even better. I could see every-time some mentioned my name on Google+ and what said about me. This is an easy and quick way of finding out if someone has been mentioned on Google+ also what they’ve said, this could be great for businesses as they can see how there competitors are dealing with problems from people. The picture below is of the search results for my name +Shane Atkins.
How to post at just the right time
I discovered this great tool on the Social Media Examiner’s blog. The tool is called Timely it helps as you can schedule posts and will choose the best time for it to be posted from looking at your previous Tweets and Facebook posts. I’ve been using Timley for the past week and have seen my Klout score rise from 47 to 48 which may not sound like a lot but my interactions are still growing everyday and my Klout score as hasn’t stopped growing since using Timely. Timley is a free service which lets you add unlimited accounts to your Timely account and you can schedule an unlimited amount of updates but can only see one hundred queued. Timley uses awe.sm as a URL shorter so your links will look like this when posting from Timely http://awe.sm/e2rrc.
How to change YouTube colours
When after adding YouTube videos to my viral video section I wanted to change to the colour from the original YouTube colours, so that it would be different from YouTube also it would it would look cleaner on my website. After doing a quick search I come across a post from YouTube’s blog which tells you exactly how to change to colour from the original. They only have four different colour schemes but they are very easy to add. To add one of the colours to your YouTube video on your website you need to firstly find the video you want, click the share buttons copy the HTML. Now find the colour you want I use theme=white, color=red then look at your video code find the ? After all the numbers and copy and paste the colour you want. This has helped make my videos look smoother and unique from videos that on other websites and YouTube.
