Everyone wants to increase their Google ranking whether you’re a business or personal blogger as being top of Google gets you noticed this is a well-known fact.
There are thousands of SEO companies that can help you get your blog to the top of Google. They optimize all your posts and pages to help claw your way to the top but if you’re like most businesses and bloggers money is extremely tight if there’s money to be saved you’ll save it.
Use these 4 tips below to increase your Google traffic:
1. Google Authorship
This is the easiest and most effective way to get more traffic from Google to your blog. Google Authorship makes you the public author of all your online content it works with your Google+.
When someone searches on Google and they find your post they will see your Google+ profile photo next to it (example below). Which increases the number of clicks to your blog as people can check out the author for the post.
You can add Google Authorship by following this simple guide by Google. If you want to have more than one author for your blog I recommend using this plugin codecanyon.net/item/google-plus-author-information-in-search-results/3093737 as it makes it dead simple to add authors.
2. Google Ratings
Adding ratings to your post gives your reader an easy way of telling you if they like or dislike your post. Which is great as you can use this information to improve your posts.
The real magic comes when your ratings are on Google as people can see stars next to your post (example below includes my Google Authorship) which are the ratings people have rated your post. Google gives you a percentage of how many people liked it and how many people rated your post.
Ratings are a fantastic way of getting more clicks through from Google as people searching can clearly see how helpful your post is instantly. The higher your rating the more people will visit your site so keep your blog posts to a high quality.
I currently know only one method to add ratings to your posts as they are usually only used on shops but you can add it your WordPress posts by buying this awesome plugin codecanyon.net/item/purple-heart-rating-wordpress-plugin/4306701. There are several options and customizations you can change to make the ratings fit your site.
3. KeyWord Tool
This awesome tool helps you discover what people are searching on Google. To use the tool just head to http://adwords.google.co.uk/ click on Tools and Analysis then KeyWord Tool.
You can type in a phrase or a couple of words and the tool will display what people are typing into Google.how many searches a month the phrase has and the competition for the phrase.
I searched for the phrase “Google traffic tips” when I was writing this post to find out some keyword ideas to get me found on Google.
When using the tool you want to find phrases that have are low to medium competition and medium to high search volume. This way you won’t be dwarfed by bigger businesses and bloggers but you’ll still be found by large audience.
I advise you use the WordPress plugin SEO Yoast so you can optimize you posts and pages for the search terms you discover in the keyword tool. If you optimize your post correctly you’ll improve the chances of being ranked number one on Google.
4. Social Sharing
Google looks at your blog posts and checks for social shares in addition to its content to decide where to place you on Google. So share your latest blog post(s) on Twitter,Google+,Facebook and LinkedIn.
The two most important social networks to share to are Twitter and Google+. It’s been proven that if a blog post has been shared on Twitter it gets indexed quicker which means it will get found on Google quicker. Sharing/+1ing your posts on Google+ improves your search ranking for all the people who have circled you. For example if someone circles your Car Mechanic Business and they searched for “How To Remove a Tyre On A 4×4?” and you wrote a post about this then you’ll be placed on the first page of Google as it’s a social recommendation from you to them.[divider_1px]
