As a blogger one of your main goals will be to increase your subscribers. More subscribers has been proven to increase sales and it can create a bigger buzz around your business. It’s not easier to gain more subscribers if you’ve just started blogging or you’ve been blogging for years. Less than three months ago my blog had zero email subscribers (as many subscribed through RSS) and today I have over 200. I tweaked some simple techniques, brain stormed some new ideas which helped me to achieve this, below are all my examples that have worked:
1. Clear Email Subscription Box
Make your subscription box large and near the top this way your reader can clearly see where they can subscribe for more updates. If you look to the top left you see my subscription box which is a great example of this.
2. Prompt readers to subscribe with a popup
A popup is a great way of grabbing a new readers attention if your text sounds inviting to them then they’ll subscribe. I receive 65% of my email subscribers via popups but remember to make it easy for readers to close the popup if they wish.
I use a WordPress plugin called Ninja Popups which has hundreds of cool features and customizations that you can easily fit into your blog.
3. Ask readers to subscribe at the end of each post
At the end of your posts add an email subscription box this way your readers can easily subscribe to read more of your posts.
4. Subscribe to other blogs
Use an official email that links to your site e.g email@example.com, when subscribing to other people’s blog post this way they can easily check what your business is about. On;y subscribe to blogs that are in your industry this way they’ll more likely subscribe to your blog. It’s a win win situation.
5. Interact with people
Networking with people online and offline can help your business get noticed. By knowing lots of people it makes it easier to ask the people who matter to check out your latest posts. If you continue to network with them and subscribe to their blogs you’ll become an influence and gain a ton of subscribers at the same time.
6. Writing quality posts
“Quality over quantity” you’ve probably heard this phrase a million times before but it suites writing posts like a glove. Take your time when you write your posts create a clear goal that you understand and make it dead simple for your reader to. This post is about the hottest ways to get more blog subscribers you know this from the title so you know exactly what to expect before reading.
Write your blog post in full don’t worry about spelling mistakes, grammar, links, images anything just write the content first as this is the most important thing. Once you’ve finished writing check your spelling and grammar a couple of times to make sure it’s correct. Add appropriate links, images and videos to maker your post more exciting for your readers.
7. Guest Blogging
A great way of getting known on the internet is to guest blog. You give new readers a chance top hear about your ideas and opinions some will love and head to your blog to subscribe while others will ignore you post.
Use Google to find blogs in your industry just email them about contributing to their blog, in most cases they’ll be more than happy for you to make a guest appearance.
Having people write guest posts on your blog is a great way for your readers to hear a different voice, the guest blogger will most likely promote their post on their social media sites which will have a positive effect on their post’s SEO ranking and your email subscribers. In total my blog has received over 40 guest posts most of the posts the bloggers emailed me first but I Googled some blogs in my industry asking them to write for me, in the end they come back and wrote some fantastic content.
