As a person who has been in the SEO industry for many years, one thing has become a painfully undeniable lesson: that SEO in it’s truest form will always be evolving and changing, and adapting to the turbulent landscape that is a characteristic of the online digital internet age. Today’s Best Practices and Strategies could easily be tomorrows old news.
So what is a person to do? Enter SEO Shockwave. SEO Shockwave is the concept that the things and activities that we participate in today, this week, this month and this year could set the standard to where we will find ourselves in the future. We must do the right things now if we are to be industry leaders. We must work diligently to make sure that the things we apply to our business today will provide value well into the future.

Diversify your website monetization efforts. This is very important if you are using your website to make money. NEVER put all your eggs in one basket when planning for the future. Don’t just create a website that is solely reliant on Adsense for example. Don’t just build a site that only Google will love. As history has shown, tens of thousands of businesses have been devastated when Google rolled out updates and the site’s traffic were destroyed. Until Google agrees to full transparency and publishes their algorithm, (which they never will) you should never rely on them for the future. Think about it. They are a business. It is important to optimize for local search going into 2014. Going into the future, quality and relevancy will play a big part in SEO. SEO strategy is evolving away from totally being keyword driven. Overall content is becoming more relevant everyday. Writing styles, text lengths, depth of content, are very important. In the past SEO Companies could get away with not fixing every little detail that was causing problems. Their sites would still rank high because of backlinks, etc… However, in the future we will be analyzing all details of our sites to make sure even the smallest detail is correct.
Social Sharing and Social Media will continue to be very important moving ahead. Building a quality audience through these channels will be vital to success. Interaction will be key. People want to feel connected, and the more you communicate with them, they will see you as a leader.
The social media revolution will place much more importance on things such as big data, and social data mining. It is important to learn how social media affects your brand visibility and how this transfers into conversions and actual profit.
While building sites, it is vital to optimize for mobile and tablet usage. The majority of consumers will be mobile by next year. They are accessing content by the terabyte through their smart phones, and you need to be able to deliver it to them adequately.
The success of your business in the future relies, in part, of your ability to transcend all levels of your company, and permeate SEO and Social Media into your culture and organization. SEO is not just a department at your business. Everyone, from the CEO to the intern should fully understand the importance of SEO and that each person in the company has a role to play.
