What to include in your email newsletter?
This will vary for lots from industry to industry, unfortunately there isn’t a magic formula to newsletters it’s trial and error. But here are some examples you can include your newsletter:
Blog Posts – You can feature all or just the best.
Any Personal News– Has something happened to you or someone in your business tell your readers about it like you would a friend.
Blog Posts Or Big News – These will be from trusted sources around the world. For instance in my newsletters I include a weekly online marketing round of the best bits from the web which include posts from Mashable,Social Media Examiner,Social Media Today and other trusted sources. Just the title of their post and a link is fine.
Your Best Selling Service or Product – I suggested writing about how happy you’re with the success of a popular item. And give your readers an exclusive discount on the item while stock lasts.
Deals Discounts and Coupons – Send your readers the latest deals of your products make sure the deal or coupon is very clear and you have clear instructions on how to redeem it.
Promoting your Social Networking Sites – You can ask your readers to follow you on social media for all the very latest news in your business.
Promote a Competition – You can promote a competition by asking your readers to complete a task. The only people that are entered for the competition are those that have subscribed to your email newsletter.
These are just some examples of what you can include try experimenting with different ones to see which works best for your business.
MailChimp makes it very easy to add any or all the elements above. To start lets create a new regular OI’ Campaign then from the campaign builder choose the drag and drop editor. Now pick a layout for your newsletter and now you can drag and drop items into your newsletter.
How Often Should You Send a Newsletter out?
This depends on what you’re sharing in your newsletter. I recommend for most businesses to send a newsletter out once a week preferably on either Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.
Sharing once a week means you’re more likely to have news to put in your newsletter and you can promote your products/services every newsletter without seeming intrusive.
If you have special discount that’s running out of time or some really big news for instance you’re moving to a new location, then I would recommend just sending your readers a quick email telling them about it.
Test and test again, if you feel you aren’t getting enough results from your weekly newsletter do a biweekly newsletter. Check the results and compare the biweekly to the weekly and see which is getting you the best results.
How to get more email subscribers?
There are literally thousands of articles on the internet that try and sell you the “secrets” for more subscribers. But it all comes down to a handful of points:
Great content on your site that people love to read time and time again.
Getting your blog out there so marketing it on social media and going to offline events asking people to read your blog.
Make it very easy for someone to subscribe to your blog. I have two ways on every blog posts that someone can subscribe. One in the widget and on a the bottom of the post. You don’t want to make it difficult for anyone wanting to subscribe as you may lose them.
Subscribe to other blogs can get your more subscribes yourself but only if subscribe to business blogs. Think before subserving to any blog to make sure they are within your demographic.
How to get sales through your email newsletter?
A question every business is just dying to know.
Make your readers feel extremely valued and that you really care for them and their needs. Different people take longer to feel that you care for them so you need to keep showing your appreciation to them. In each of your newsletters I recommend giving your readers an exclusive How to post in the email also an exclusive discount of your product or service.
Use MailChimp to create a button with some call to action text so your readers know what to do next after reading your newsletter.
