There are many great places to advertise your business online but choosing the right place is absolutely vital to getting the most form your advertising budget. The main places for your business to advertise online are on social media, search engines and on peoples websites. Today you’ll learn where best place(s) are for your business to advertise on.
If you run a small to medium business that sells products to other small to medium businesses or for customers then this is an ideal place. There are over 1 billion active users on Facebook from teenages to the elderly. Facebook is an awesome place to advertise as you can advertise to a very specific demographic. For instance if you run hair salon you can target ladies that are 25 to 50 years old, live within a couple miles of the hair salon and like fashion.
Any business can advertise on Facebook you can advertise from as little as £15 and get your business out to thousands of people in your local area.
Advertising on Twitter is generally for medium to cooperate businesses as the minimum spend is £600 a lot of money but it can be worth it. Twitter is the home for over 500 million people from around the world who all love to keep up with the latest things in the world, their favorite celebrities, friends, local events and your business.
Twitter advertising is unique you can buy sponsored hashtags or follow recommendations to get your business noticed. The difference with Twitter advertising over other social advertising platforms is that they feel different. They are true social adverts they feel more like recommendations something that will help me rather than intrude me.
Adwords (Google and YouTube)
Adwords are Google’s advertising services so your business can advertising on Google search engine,on websites using Google Adsense (like on my site) and YouTube video adverts.
Google and YouTube are the two largest search engines on the internet with hundreds of millions of people using both of them daily. While everyone uses them they’ve been proven not be as successful for small to medium businesses.
Adwords allows you to see what people are typing into Google and where in the world they are typing so you can easily alter your advert to target your audience.
Advertising on Adwords work by you setting a bid to advertise per click. So you can set your highest bid to be say £0.5 a click. This will mean that you’ll bidding against other businesses in your filed that are advertising in your area. If you bid is higher then you’ll be placed higher than them.
If you’re looking into advertising with adwords you’ll need to be very creative and offer some completely unique to people looking at your advert. As most people while glance over adverts in Google and nearly everyone clicks the skip advert button on YouTube. So give people something unique, fun, interesting and helpful for your potential customers.
Some of you may of heard of StumbleUpon but may not know what it is about. StumbleUpon is a social bookmarking site which allows people to stumble through different topics people have submitted non Stumbleupon.
Stumbleupon may only have 35 million users but it can boast the biggest social refera on the internet bigger than Facebook,Twitter and Pinterest added together.
Advertising on StumbleUpon is really only suited for medium to large businesses due to the way StumbleUpon works. The advertising or as Stumbleupon like to see Sponsored Stumble, is quite targeted. If you’ve ever used Stumbleupon you’ll learn quickly that they they give you some pretty awesome recommendations. And when you advertise on StumbleUpon your business will be reccdon to users while they stumble through website on the internet.
StumbleUpon works well for business that sells e things for instance ebooks, software etc. It also works for big national and international businesses as you can quickly get your message out to a very (I say the most targeted) demographic on the internet. Unfortunately I don’t recommend advertising on Stumbleupon if you’re a small business as you can’t narrow the search to a specific area and it’s quite expensive and needs lots of time and creative for it to be useful which many small businesses don’t have the time to do while bigger businesses do.
Advertising on websites and blogs
In my opinion one of the best ways to advertise on the internet. Advertising on blogs especially influential blogs can dramatically increase traffic and sales for your business.
There are tens of millions of blogs in the world with people blogging about anything and everything. While some bloggers won’t want to advertise any business they are plenty that do.
To find a suitable blog use search for something about your industry in Google’s Blog search and make a list of the blogs that you want to advertise on. Then narrow the search down to say five emails and email them asking about advertising on their blog but don’t mention how you’re going to pay, just yet.
If you have a large advertising budget I suggest checking out Buy Sell Ads which is a marketplace for buying and selling adverts on large blogs such as Social Media Today.
