Rolling over to check your phone as soon as you wake up, to discover, before you’ve even had your breakfast – the online side of your business has already brought in sales or leads while you’ve been sleeping. When this happens, you know it’s going to be a good day.
It’s not even fantasy- if I can do it, so can you, it’s easily done, but it requires sheer hard work, patience and persistence.
Sales while you sleep, it surely must be the ultimate goal for small business people isn’t it?
My other business is a UK based cryptocurrency brokerage, think Bitcoins, Ethereum etc, I help individuals and business people invest in the virtual currency market over on my website www.buyvirtualcurrency.co.uk.
I began my business 8/9 months ago and worked my socks off to get it into a position to be able to receive currency orders, literally – while I sleep.
We all know what internet marketing activities us small businesses should be doing to bring in sales and market ourselves online, but all too often, we’re not actually following through with the actions needed to succeed online.
The 80/20 rule for effective internet marketing methods
Amongst some of the most effective internet marketing methods and techniques I currently have within my arsenal, two by far bring in the majority of sales.
Concentrated Search Engine Optimisation
SEO, Search Engine Optimisation plays a huge part in my online success. My website is now ranking #1 and #2 and #3 on Google for many of my chosen keywords.
They key here is, I didn’t just try to rank for terms like ‘Bitcoin’ or ‘Buy Bitcoin online’ – the really big guys in the market will ensure I’ll never rank high for those terms. Instead, I put a-lot of emphasis behind my SEO to ensure I’m targeting the ‘low hanging fruit’ in terms of longtail keywords.
Winning with SEO, if your small business budget is limited like mine was, is about being smart.
Email Marketing & Growing My List
At the time of writing this post, I have just clicked send on my latest mass email newsletter. Email is just as important now as it was 10 years ago, if not more so due to the sheer amount of content we see on Facebook, Twitter etc – email still enables us to get our messages seen among the noise.
I started my email list from scratch, it’s growing all the time with each new online order and email subscriber I receive, but it’s by no means enormous. But, it doesn’t need to be.
Successful email marketing is about ensuring your message is getting seen by only those people who really want to receive it, half-hearted subscribers who don’t open your emails aren’t any good to anyone. As with everything, it’s about QUALITY not QUANTITY.
While I of course often update my LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram profiles, the above two methods come under the pareto 80/20 rule – when it comes to my internet marketing.
Internet marketing for small business is all about testing and measuring marketing methods. Figuring out what works best for you, which method brings in the best results and x10’ing them to saturation point.
